The Early Days
I started my triathlon career at an early age. I had wanted to do a triathlon since first seeing a brochure for the Greater Orlando Triathlon, an Olympic distance race, but at the time you had to be 15 years old to compete. I competed in my first triathlon at age 12, in the Tavares 4th of July Sprint Triathlon. The distances were a 3 mile run, 8 mile bike and 1/4 mile swim, in that order. I would go on to compete at the first Ironkids triathlon in 1985 at Walt Disney World, in Orlando, FL. I was fortunate enough to win that first Ironkids event and went on to participate in triathlons for 25 years.

USA Triathlon Profiler
USAT uses the Athlete Profiler to identify athletes for invitation to Select Camps and National Team programs. The Athlete Profiler also serves as an important two-way communication tool between USAT and its younger members. Once an athlete has created a profile, they are able to update it from time-to-time with their most recent personal best times and race results. USAT often uses the Athlete Profiler to contact athletes about upcoming events and opportunities. Athletes 23 and under are encouraged to create an Athlete Profile .
